Summer Start

Wow!  It's been forever!  Yet, the thought of having Isaiah all to my self every day for the next 80+ days is both exciting and terrifying.  He is still smarter than me... that's not going to go well.

I have started us off in the right direction.

  • Printed two mazes from the internet.
With the way Isaiah goes through these, Dan sugested printing more complicated one to save us from having 20 books around the house.
  • Have the reading logs ready.  And library books... lots of books!
  • Math and writing homework.
  • A journal, just like the ones they use at school for him to write in every day.
  • A crossword book for kids.
He knows the answers and can, oddly, spell most of the words!!
  • And I MADE a word find!
    Please, please... hold our applause.
That's what got me thinking about getting back to the blog.  I know we're all going to have a great summer of travel and fun.  Let's hare the things we're doing with one another.  If you're planning a day trip to the museum, let us know.  Those who live close, we might be able to meet up!  Those who live farther away can use it as an idea.  This blog isn't searchable, so it's slightly more secure than Facebook so putting your future plans here should be relatively safe.

And, in the spirit of sharing, here's the word find!  Word Find - June 5

Conference Days

A few days at an LCMC Conference. Good info, great ideas and amazing time with the team that went. There's are two parts of the day that are hard: (1) As with any conference, I have a hundred ideas and no authority or wisdom on how to make such changes actually happen. (2) I'm not going to be here to do anything anyway.

It was also wonderful to see people I knew! My youth director from when I as young, Sean, local pastors. It's nice to be linked in.

Then, home for a lovely evening with Za and a little run. A good day.

What sound does this latter make?

So the first word he sounded out was "Me." I'm sure he'll be reading by the end of the week.

A good week to be rewarded with a movie and the sorting of old tax documents. It's a little sad what makes me happy.

I shouldn't have done that...

Buy treadmill. Check!
Get a deal. Check!
Buy the floor model for even less. Check!
Get it preassembled for free. Check!
Save enough to get the extended warrantee for free. Check!
Have them load the car. Check!
Get it home and unload it yourself. Um. Well. Check... Barley.
Get it into the house... Not yet. As its all put together it's to wide to get into any of the doors.

I could leave it in the garage.

The good news, in addition to not cutting both legs off as I got it out of the car, is its home.

Do you know what's keeping me from flying away?

The strangest question for Isaiah who was standing in the bathtub. I've been well trained so I simply said, "What?" "Gravity! Everyone has a little gravity in them and it keeps them from flying all around." Aparently Busytown Mysteries is good for more than a 20 minute nap. :) We finally had a close to normal day after two weeks from Hell. My disdain for Christmas is well known, but this year I also had two really bad weeks to go with it. I'll conical those at another time. Today Corianne's came over to watch Za while I worked and she even got him to take a nap. Now, if I can only get him to go to sleep on time tonight...

The red car is IN!

Granted... My car is out, but we're moving in the right direction. They will switch out our recycle bins in a few weeks, so they will be gone. I got the pull-up thing in front of Dan's car on the left and half of the boxes have been cut p. I don't remember where I got the rule that all cardboard has to be broken down into 3-foot square prices... But I might change it on Monday and just put out the bigger prices too. Today is part of winter break so Isaiah and I had the day to work on the garage. I'll post a picture when it's done. Then the post office and then Shakkies for lunch. I know, its like a party all the time. The picture is from La Posada which was a Mexican reselling of the journey of Mary and Joseph. Very cool. And it ended with tamales! Super yummy night with Tara and Isaiah!
